Kaitlyn Moyka MA. LMSW.

Hi, I’m Kaitlyn, and I’m glad you’re taking the first step toward investing in yourself.

I am a Licensed Master Social Worker in Arizona providing counseling services at Discovery & Wellness Counseling for clients in Anthem, North Phoenix, and Scottsdale.

I earned my Master of Social Work and Master of Science in Disaster Resilience Leadership from Tulane University, and I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Northern Arizona University.

My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and person-centered, and I strive to create a space where you feel heard, supported, and empowered.

Therapy Approach

My own approach reflects that mission. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, strengths-based practice, Solution-Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed care to help clients build resilience, strengthen insight, and develop practical tools they can use in daily lifeIt wasn’t until I read the novel,‘A Child Called It’ that I realized I wanted to help children, adults and families work towards healing and regaining a sense of safety and control.

Why I Became a Therapist

Before entering the mental health field, I worked as an EMT, supporting people through fear, grief, anxiety, loss, and uncertainty during some of life’s most vulnerable moments. Those experiences strengthened my belief in the value of human connection and emotional support.

As a former collegiate athlete, I also understand how difficult it can be when injury or unexpected change affects identity, plans, and a sense of purpose. That experience inspired my passion for helping others navigate change, uncertainty, and personal growth.

Through my journey, I have gained a lot of experience working with children, adults and families; specifically those that have experienced trauma, attachment difficulties, substance use and separations which often lead to depression, anxiety and PTSD.

Areas Of Focus

I have a particular interest in working with athletes, first responders, helping professionals, graduate students, and members of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. In addition, I enjoy supporting former professional athletes who are adjusting to life after sport, career changes, financial stressors, and questions of identity and purpose. As well as, adolescents, young adults and adults experincing:

  • Anxiety.

  • Depression.

  • Trauma.

  • Stress.

  • Relationship concerns.

  • Self-esteem challenges.

  • Academic pressure.

  • Career pressure.

  • Life transitions.

Outside The Therapy Room

Originally from Long Island, New York, I have also lived in Colorado, New Orleans, and now Arizona. Having relocated multiple times, I understand both the excitement and challenges of starting over, building community, and finding a sense of belonging.

Outside of work, I enjoy hiking, traveling, exploring new places, attending sporting events, and spending time with family and friends. These experiences continue to shape my appreciation for resilience, connection, and the importance of support during change.
