Why I help others grow & change
Well, like most young people I experimented with alcohol (and some marijuana) early in my life and at first it was simply fun, I was “partying.” But as time went by and I got older, alcohol started to get the better of me and in no time I was struggling with an addiction. It had me in its grip for 25 years until I finally got sober at the age of 48.
I have now been sober for a little over 12 years and life is great. My addiction took a lot from me, but I refused to let it win.
Recovery from any addiction is one of the hardest things a person will ever do and I am living proof that change is possible! I believe that recovery is possible if wanted badly enough and one is willing to do the work, and individual can change anything they want about themselves.
To help in my recovery, when I first got sober, I started taking classes in substance abuse simply to learn more about it and keep myself grounded. Beyond my expertise in substance abuse and addition, I enjoy working with Anxiety, Trauma and Couples work.
Beyond my interest and pursuits professionally, I enjoy just about anything out of doors (camping, hiking, biking, and especially anything near a lake or river), spending time with my family; traveling when I am able to, and exploring the many beautiful areas here in Arizona.
I am originally from Washington State (go Cougars) and have lived in Montana, Oklahoma, Colorado, Tennessee and Idaho. When I first came to Arizona I had no intention of staying for long but I have been here for 16 years now. I am of the firm believe that one should “never say never.”
