EMOTIONALLY FOCUSED THERAPY

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is generally a short-term (8-20 sessions) couple and family therapy approach. It has been found that 70-75% of couples effectively move from distress to recovery using EFT and experience significant improvement in their relationships.

Emotionally Focused Therapy works for a wide variety of relationships and issues.

EFT is helpful to couples and families of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds, ages, levels of education, occupations, and sexual orientations. EFT has also proved beneficial where—in addition to the relationship distress—one of the partners is suffering from a condition such as depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), substance abuse, or major physical illness.  It is also very effective with distressed parent-child and sibling relationships.
